I'm trying to help the owner of a 2015 Megane GTLine 1.5TD
Do these cars have a timing belt or a timing chain? If a belt, what is the recommended change interval?
Thanks

After doing a bit of a search, the 1.5L Diesel is a belt type engine which was sold till 2016 in Australia, after this overseas the diesel (not sold in Australia) was then a 1.6L chain driven cam and quite a different engine.

Service interval seems to be different worldwide. Often in Australia the intervals are shorter than in UK/Europe, I suspect because it is generally hotter here. In the UK 72K Miles (about 115KLMs) and 7 years for these cars, my guess is here we would look at 4 or 5 years and 80KLMs, but some might push 100. The result of leaving it too long is major destruction, doing it too often is just an additional expense.

Doing this job on a 2013 Megane RS265 (high output car) with replacement of all the pulleys, tensioners and water pump and accessories belt is $1500+ at reputable shops.
